Overture: Premium or Self Service?

Working with AdWords for some time, can it be applied to Overture?

Hi group,

after working with AdWords for almost a year now, I want to move into Overture as well. I'm ready to sign up and get a test-run, but now they offer me the choice between "Premium Service" (also called "Fast Track") and "Self Service".

I'm doing good on AdWords and learned some things the hard way. Can AdWords experience be applied to Overture? Or should I rather go for the Premium Service? The only difference in price seems to be the setup-fee...

Any advice?

I would ask them about ad verification process. I have been told that if you are a "self-serve" customer your ads will take longer to get verified and go live.

As you are probably used to, Adwords lets you go live with your ads and the verification process is extremely easy. With Overture they actually manually poke through each and every ad. Sometimes taking days to go live.

So I would definitely ask them if this changes the length of verification in any way. If it does, the small extra fee will be worth the wait

I have been using Overture, as well as Adwords for about a year now and havealways leaned a bit more towards Overture. I have always used the "self-service" method. In regards to the last comment about it taking a while to have keywords approved, I have actually been very satisfied with the turn around time for keywords going live. I added about 30 more keywords yesterday and had all of them live and approved within 4 hours. Not too bad if you ask me.

Comparing Adwords to Overture, you will be able to take some basic knowledge you have picked up along the way and apply it to Overture. Overture is a much easier way to control costs and keywords. I myself also made a few "mistakes" along the way and have definitely learned from them.

I would highly recommend using a conversion tracker to keep an eye on your keywords. Broad words on Overture do have a tendency to drive up costs, as well as dropping conversions. With Adwords, you can usually get away with the broader terms.

It is up to you on which method you prefer, but in my opinion a years worth of experience in Adwords should be enough to setup your own Overture account.
