It is not an adult site, rather an Asia related travel site for backpackers. Interestingly Yahoo has partnered with a competitor and is using their content for their travel content - this was where my adverts were appearing (aside from general search) and I was getting very healthy click-throughs there. Now they're all gone as have aderts from a couple of other travel content providers.
Strikes me that perhaps Yahoo may no longer taking adverts that run to close to their own content - disappointing if that was the case - but I certainly would have expected Yahoo/Overture to advise accordingly - so I could cancel my Overture accout ASAP...
Have contacted Overture (by email) and they advised the adverts are being displayed, however the stats don't bear this out, plus I can't see hem and friends in UK and Australia can't see them, so I feel they're not being straight with me.
Any thoughts anyone? don't suppose there's an "Overture_man" on this forum is there?
I dont think they'll take down advertisers that advertise content similar to their own. Considering the expansive portal that they have they would be ruling out a ton of business if they did this. If you can give them a call and ask them what's up, they'll respond immediately unlike email.
weird and as yet, no clarification from Overture - plus can see them on msn, alltheweb and all those garbage generic serch engines they end up on - this is only happening on Yahoo.
I should add that we are in the U.S. If this is related to geo-targeting, it makes me even less interested in banking on good results from these types of programs.
Any updates from others?
When I explained I had seen them over and over again inside the Yahoo travel section, they said my ISP must have temporarily changed to a US based ISP, which, it absolute, utter and total trash.
I gave up at that point - I'll keep using Overture as I need my adverts on msn and yahoo, but as soon as a different option arises I will cancel my account - am already getting a far superior set of results from Adwords...
They suggested I sign up for another market...umm let me think about that...no thanks.
Their duplicity isn't exactly confidence building - esp after reading the post about their charges being out of whack...
