I am really looking for cons... but I am interested in the pros also. Please post any links to recently published articles about this new trend in search engine positioning.

Sorry no links, but in my opinion & FWIW,

There's something about ppc that's kinda cool, and that is that it is a much easier way to break into the seo biz. You can literally pick keyword terms and optimize without having any clients, when you place well simply direct the traffic to one of the relevant sites ranked around forty something. Follow up with an e-mail a few days later asking if they would like the added traffic to continue, if they don't want it, shop it around.

On the con side, you have more initial investment in the way of domains and hosting costs. Those things keep costing you whether there is income coming in or not, but it can also be a great motivator and insurance.

I like the pre-developed traffic idea Air...I just might have to get me a server.

Just be sure there's something to convert to revenue once you get the traffic. At the current rate of $1 net CPM many banner programs are paying out, a site stands to lose $9 for every 1000 it has bid in at 1 cent a click. Or, if an affiliate, you've got be be able to generate $10 net commission per 1000 visitors just to break even at a penny a click. This is another area where I believe many publishers are caught up in generating raw traffic and haven't done the math.

Head to Goto and pick out those suckers paying $1+ for clicks... That can be some serious cash if you can produce traffic under those kw's.
