Listed in Overture but don't know how or why

I've recently come across a number of general keyword terms (red widgets, blue widgets etc) listed on overture that I am not paying for.

The cheapest bid on these terms I can find is at $0.15. At first I thought it must be an affilliate site, but that turned out to be false. Then I wondered whether the listings could be getting added there by yahoo, but that does quite add up either. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I'm not complaining about the free traffic, just curious how its being managed.

Overture was using backfill results from Ink, not sure if they are still using them, or another engine, but that's how you're listed.

Thaks ewhisper.. that might indeed be the case but I thought backfill results were not listed as a "sponsored listing" and came up as an "additional listing".

they're coming up in the top 3 of what appear to be competitive terms and the URL has the?src=overture added to it. Maybe chndru was right about this being the best kept secret in town.

Is this site currently paying for any listings in Overture?
