Update to Terms and Conditions
The Overture Terms and Conditions have been updated to specify distribution opportunities with affiliate partners who may use e-mail to distribute Overture listings. Please review the latest version, available by clicking on the link below. No further action is required on your part, as your continued use of Overture signifies your acceptance of these updated Terms and Conditions.
Does this mean regular search affiliates or does it only apply to "content match"? I started reading the terms and conditions and gave up. There is no link to "further information"
I know Sprinks used to do this with About.com newsletters that were topic matched however it was something you had to knowingly set up as it produced high numbers of click throughs although I have no idea if they were good ROI or not.
I really don't want my ads presented in random e-mails. This is not search and IMHO the ROI for our kind of business would be terrible.
It may be that nothing is yet in place about the e-mail inclusions and that they are just covering their rearends for the future when they can slip it in without having to make further announcements because "No further action is required on your part, as your continued use of Overture signifies your acceptance of these updated Terms and Conditions."
This could turn out to be a huge issue in the future and it would be great if one of you who has access to an Over rep could call and find out what is actually going on - if they know.
Shak?
If you have Overture content enabled, it's at their disgression if their partners can use your ads in emails.
There is no way to opt out of just email content ads, you must opt out of all content ads.
Hopefully, lots of people will suddenly opt out, and Overture will realize their mistake in this one.
