does Overture have some type of click protection?

to prevent somebody from clicking their link all day.

my company is currently embroiled in a bidding war on Overture with 2 other companies. this one competitor ran the price up on 4 top keywords to $15 a click!

so, i thought, "well, i'll show those smartasses and just click their links all day."

but will this rack up as a single click thru or multiple ones? does Overture (Yahoo, MSN, etc...) track IP's in order to prevent this type of false clicking?

They do track IP's as well as other things.. They keep the actual process very hush hush for obvious reasons..

they take unique hits.. once you tag it that's that. you can click it all day and it'll only register once. just hope your competitor isn't watching ip's on his traffic. you might raise an eyebrow :)

do you think he's getting that much biz off his $15 listings? i'm pissed about some listings that are getting over $.70 ;)

If he's the only one bidding that high, you might want pick up some ppc management software and set your bid .01 below his (causing him to pay $15 while you only pay .01 more than the #3 position) I've used this method many times to call competitors bluffs..

Or you could always give him a call and try working out a situation that benefits both of you...
