Knight Ridder Digital's network of newspaper sites, including the San Jose Mercury News and Miami Herald.

Overture's sponsored listings will appear at the top of general search results.

Knight Ridder Digital was using Google's new content-targeted program

Hm, but - no word on when the content-targeted ads will fly. From the tone of the article, my guess is that Overture gave away a bigger percentage of the revenue to them.

Surely not with stats on their smaller advertiser base than Google. :)

Does this mean content ads will replace those ubiquitous glitzy rich media popups cities that seem compulsory for 99% of newspaper sites? If so, im all for it!

Better be careful or they will be accusing you of insider trading. The article you referenced wasn't officially released until an hour after you posted it.

herb, me thinks that perhaps - the author of the CNET piece was reading the *same* news source as martinibuster? ;)

Not rocket science, just keeping abreast, in real time, of the news that impacts all of us - or might impact all of us. Generally speaking, if "news" doesn't break here, we tend to talk about it within minutes (or seconds) after it happens.

Yeah, what Jeremy said. The source is a good old press release.

Additionally, it's hard to be accused of insider trading when I'm not an insider and I don't own any stock whatsoever (unless you count the "chicken stock" hiding behind the whiskey bottle in my cupboard).

Hey, and while I'm hyping my previous posts that are dying a slow death and getting reposted by someone else, you might want to take a look at this one, it's about Artificial Intelligence's possible role in the future of search.

Jeremy just a joking poke at Martinibuster. The Business Wire P/R shows a July 28, 2003 - 6:02 AM release. Martinibuster posted at 5:23 AM. I have never been much for using smiles but perhaps this should have been the first instance.

ha ha ha, ya - the time attached to posts here is a bit of a mystery :)

Perhaps you should start using smilies - though not too many :(

Else, people might think you're daft, like me :o
