"Having completed the acquisitions of both AV and FAST's Web search unit, Overture now offers access to paid inclusion products through partners and resellers. An integrated paid inclusion product will be available directly from Overture in August. "

[From a small part of Email today.]

My question is this.......

What is the demographic of the sites that Overture has to offer? We make good money on Yahoo! referrals. Can we tell our clients to PFI with any SE who gives us the opportunity?

I know it is industry & site specific but how would do advance funds to ensure that you limit overlap?

What information would you, as an advertiser, need to review before you would make a commitment for your clients

Offhand I don't see how that should change anything.
For me, targeting European markets, the Ex Fast then OV partners bring good traffic. They all have either OV or ES on top.
For some sites it's worthwile to be in the index plus being in OV results, for some one of the both is enough.

AV is not on my list of PFI I'd pay for, especially since they let you pay for each country seperately.

I'm sure for US markets it's a different story altogether.

For us, we would run a test. The internet has so little in the way of solid demographics and since the old school of what demographics work seems to be outdated on the web, I now just test everything and have been surprised more than once.

We have found that PFI can be just as lucrative as PPC ads, even when there is an overlap. Even when there is overlap, you will be catching two different types of customers. Ones who don't mind clicking on paid results and ones who do.

We do AV now, but I am not much impressed. It is only worthwhile b/c we pull a feed for a couple of places so we have it anyway. It is profitable but not much in the way of traffic. It would really be nice if this means that I don't have to look into FAST b/c my AV feed just gets fed into FAST.

For us, what makes PFI really worthwhile is that our off-the-wall, wacko items get found and bought. Things that we don't have ads for, that we will never have ads for, things that I never would have guessed that people were activly searching to buy. With PFI, we still find the customers who want to buy them.
