Through some posts here I came across <snip>. This site clearly must be reducing Overture ROI for advertisers.

Among the perceived problems:
1) Ads get served when people are searching for images..

2) Ads are served in a new pop-up window which disables the back button.

3) Where do they get the logos?

My main concern is with AOL integrating a pop-up stopper do we get charged without the ad ever being seen by the user.

IMHO...I think Overture syndication partners should not be allowed to serve ads in a pop-up. Anyone know of other partners doing the same?

[TOS - no urls please]

Overture does this with Gator as well. If the ROI is decreasing for you at Overture do not use their service. Pretty simple, imho.

If you don't have the data to track, get some software, or use a service that will calculate your ROI by keyword, referrer, search engine, the works.

Then you won't have to 'guess' that the ROI is decreasing, you will *know* that it has changed.

Unlikely, but possible, that these popup ads drive great sales for you - but unless you are tracking everything the right way it's next to impossible to tell if the pop up ads / gator partnership / etc - help or hinder your marketing objectives with the Overture service.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, btw.
