Text under photo

Hi
I am new to all of this so please forgive me. My old webmaster made photos - buttons that have text for the first layer then the photo on top then flattened them. The text shows up then the photo- button comes in on top. Is this considered hidden text or is it ok to use?

It sounds like you're describing text used in an image. Many images, especially buttons and logos, have text, but the text can't be read by a crawler. The WebmasterWorld.com logo is an example. This kind of text/image isn't the same thing as hidden text. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
