[wired.com...]

According to an article at Wired.com Overture took a little bit of a sock to the stomach because of a downgrade from an analyst in the sector. The price per share was downgraded from $20 to $6!

"Rohan said Overture is likely to lose revenue because one of its main customers, Microsoft, is increasing investment in its own search technology."

Could this spell disaster for Overture if Microsoft pulls out to use their own in-house PPC company to serve ads at MSN? Also there was no mention of Google Adwords or other PPC companies.

Where have these people been - I've been hearing about the MS pay per click thing for at least a year. ;)

Thanks for the article - interesting read.

ritualcoffee,

As have I. I wish we could get some more info on what Microsoft plans on doing, especially since Overture would take a huge blow to the gut if MSN wasn't serving their ads. MSN is being weird with the Overture ads (according to other posters on the board) so I wonder if that is a sign of things to come. With all those figures comming out saying that search advertising is going to bring in big bucks I expect MSN to make a move before the end of the year. Or hopefully at least a press release on what they plan to do.
