Are there tools for tracking overture sales?

Newbie to this forum and must say this forum is very helpful. I have a question and hope someone can shed some light to this topic.

What tools or script are people using to track actual sales generated from overture? I mean you can track the clicks, but how do one track the sale generated from that click?

It doesn't make sense when we pay hundreds even thousands to Overture, when all we can measure the success rate is through traffic reports.

Are there Perl or Javascripts out there? Hope all you seasoned webmasters out there can help.

I am also interested to learn how sales are tracked. My boss has separate landing pages for his Overture search terms. Is he on the right track? How can he subsequently determine that the pages are the first step in a completed sale?

Some people track results with a high degree of specificity by setting up affiliate software, and giving each PPC term its own affiliate link. This would let you track things through from click to conversion. This could also track results of emails, joint ventures etc.. Look for affiliate software that generates short, "pretty" referral links based on your own domain name.
