Overture keyword phrases

They don't look a thing like I entered them!

Why has Overture monkeyed with my keyword phrases? They don't make a lick of sense now. Should I be concerned? I entered them as specific phrases for a reason!

Tim,

Don't worry a bit, what Overture do is they use something called Match Driver which effectively mathces up with your keywords in certain order. You will still get found for your chosen keyword phrase, but it just makes it a little easier to alphabetise the listings.

It does get a bit easier after you've seen a few thousand of them!

MatchDriver2 looks at phrases differently.
You submit keyword1 keyword2 keyword3
It sees it as keyword2 keyword3 keyword1

You need to run a search to see if MatchDriver2 resolves it correctly and appeal if it doesn't.

By combing my logs, I found that Overture was sending me traffic for "Pictures from the 1950's" for my original term "Clothing from the 1950's". I don't sell pictures, I sell clothing. I emailed them & they explained they could not opt me out of a specific match driver term.

Now I'm suspect of the quality & cost of my traffic. I have approximately 1200 Overture keywords which generate traffic of about 1200 visitors per day.

Has anyone else with comparable volume taken the time to analyze logs to determine what % of traffic is coming from irrelevant match driver terms?

Thanks!

I know when I submit large amounts of keywords, the overture staff suddenly feels the need to throw in any keywords they feel are relevant to my searches (which is not always the case). If you have a more than acouple hundred, you might want to check to see if they slipped a few in on you.
