Hi All,

Does anyone participate in or know of a service offered by Overture to optimise your website for the search engines? One of our clients is apparantly in talks with them.

The only think i can think of is where they help you choose keywords and to write effective titles/descriptions.

Am i right in thinking that someone is getting the wrong end of the stick?

Many Thanks

I'd say you are absolutely right. Overture now have two services (used to be 3). The first is the self-service option, where you write your own ads, chose your own keywords etc.. The second is where Overture will chose keywords and write ads for you.

The advantage of going the latter route is that Overture has the data available of the keywords relevant to your clients site. The downside is that they don't get all that many ads for their money and invariably could do better with a more rounded approach to the subject. Overture also only use very basic tracking URL's for the ads, so you don't get any detailed information on activity (apart from the Overture supplied stuff, which is not very detailed, sorry it's just an opinion).

All in all though, if a client is on a tight budget it's not a bad way to get started.
