I'm seeing large swings in SERP's some of my pages jumping from no where to top 10 results and others dropping from top 10 to nowhere,

looks like i've lost links and some canonical issues again, which i hope to see removed as the link rel was added to my pages the beginning of the week so too late for this update.

Yes, index update has been rolled out.
There is no weather report on their blog but Yahoo! Japan officially announced it.
[searchblog.yahoo.co.jp...]

We didn't see weather report at the last update either. Have they given it up?

How come Yahoo! Japan is so frequently the first to announce updates? Is that where all the 'magic' happens?

I'm seeing some movement also. I am seeing two different titles and descriptions for singular vs. plural of my main keyword. It's the same URL, so kind of odd.

they still have a large foot print in Japan maybe that's the reason..

Exactly.
In addition most of webmasters in Japan are always excited at Yahoo update very much.

Japan lives in the future, it's always tomorrow over there.

Perhaps it is just me, but I've always thought Inktomi had a distinctly Japanese flair to its name. Nah, couldn't be. ;-)

I wonder if Google is going to do an update soon. They are way overdue.

Heavy on Wikipedia right now. Overall, very clean and useful in most areas.

I've seen a 30% jump in reported backlinks and as this is a big data set, I can't quite tell yet what's going on.

I cannot tell if Yahoo is finding more backlinks because they have really changed or if this number is a result of a new and different way that Yahoo is reporting backlinks.
