My site has been around for years. Busiest message board on the internet for a particular travel destination. G has indexed 75000+ pages. MSN 15000+. Last year Y had indexed 700 or so pages and didn't seem to want to go beyond that. I made pages se friendly. Yahoo over the next few months worked its way to around 15000 pages.
Problem was that they didn't use meta description only first sentance or so of text. In my case, that was a "Welcome to the message board" sentence, the same for every listing. I modified things again, putting (I know this is no no) hidden (using CSS) a copy of the first sentence of the first post before the Welcome message. This worked well so that the description in the listing actually described it. This was fine for a couple of months, then last month number of pages dropped to <200.
I figure maybe a problem with dup content(I hadn't prevented print friendly pages or other unitentional possible sources of dup content via a message board) and blocked via robot.txt. Again seemed to start to climb very slowly to 300+.
Today it shows 15.
All my content isn't message board, I have 1000 pages of unique non message board content as well.
Slurp as looked at 10000+ pages this month, down from ~45000 last month.
I still show as #1 or 2 for destination forum(s) or message board, so it's not like I'm excluded from the serps.
Even at it's best the traffic for this site from Y hasn't been stellar - it just seems like it should be better. If my site was just a cookie cutter aff site or the domain diposable, I probably wouldn't care. But this site is unique and of value to anybody looking for info on this destination.
I'd be very interested in hearing any thoughts or comments.

Just be glad those running the Yahoo SERPS aren't in the air traffic controller business!
Can someone sticky me an Email contact for having Yahoo look at a site that has a penalty that shouldn't have one?
Age now obviously counts in Yahoo SerPS.
One of my sites that has a penalty from Yahoo is 7 years old. So I don't think your sandbox theory applies to this post.

The above Yahoo! link however didn't work...at least so far. I submitted my request 2-3 months ago...no answer.
BTW my site is 5 years old, included in Yahoo! dir and ODP, performing very well in G and MSN, so Y! sandbox cannot be the case. I must be too competitive to them..I can just guess this.
I strongly believe that Y! applies lifetime penalties, because I can't see Slurp having the slightest effort to "re-review" my site since it banned me last April..hitting only robots.txt and index.html everyday.

I get nothing.
So how can I know if I am banned?
Before this update, how many pages of your site are indexed in yahoo? Or only homepage is indexed?

I've done everything I can think of to my 7 year old site to repair any perceived problems, but only find my index.html in the Y! index (and I paid for inclusion in their index).
Isn't it sad that Yahoo would ban these types of established sites (assuming that your 7 year old site has good content, and is useful to your users)? They are not fly-by-night spam sites. Some of our sites that have been banned (my 4 year old site, for example, with 50 or so original articles throughout my 35-page site) represent lots of hard work with good intentions of bringing content to users. I hope that they start to take age/intent/content of site into consideration.

Welcome to the club! I personally don't think they care about the moans of webmasters/seo's about sites banned in their index. They assume we are all guilty until proven innocent. However, there is no trial going on here, so we are sentenced guilty!
I have also a site that is suspended... Anyway, did anybody try to add the suspended site to the y! paid directory?

When I do a 'site:www.mydomain.com' (www.<snip>.com) it actually shows 47,000+ pages with the homepage coming up first. Doing the same in Google acutally brings back 229,000+ pages. What gives? Our site has been around for 5 years, has great content, every page is optimized, etc.
Any ideas?
