With YPN, I cant even afford to buy ONE salad a day :)
With AS I can easily afford two full meals in a three star hotel and still be left with money for dessert :)
But again I've tried YPN only for 2 weeks! so who knows but i'm back on AS cos I cant live on salads alone
I'll see wild flucations on static pages - I'll see very precise targeting, as well a friend that I work with, and then it will be way off the next instant - mortgage ads, dating services, etc. It's not a problem with the topic of the page or keywords, the page, or rather its articles, have plenty of keyword references naturally, and YPN has plenty of ads for the keywords (or did, I'm not so sure anymore).
The frustrating thing is, I'll see in a banner ad, the following ads:
Ad #1: Some Mortgage ad -
Ad #2: Properly target keyword-based ad
Ad #3: Dating Service
etc.
Obviously there is some targeting going on to get Ad #2 (which is a very specific niche/keyword topic), and I'll go and block Ad #1 and Ad#, but give it a day and it's back to non-targeted ads.
Maybe some advertisers are buying up tons of keywords that have very little to do with what they are advertising.
The 2 index pages ar highly targeted with Google and gets 60% of my clicks. I have just recently spun off the second tier pages that are on various topics to YPN and doubled my income on them. Just more money per click and the adventure of browsing ads that are loosely associated with the topics. If ad distribution and targeting tightens up a bit it will be ideal. (no repeat ads in 3 ad units per page more catagories would help too)
The combination, in the right applications, yeilds more than either singularly.
Right now YPN seems to be the way we are heading, it's paying out more and the ads are getting better targeted as of late.
You cannot mix YPN and AS on the same page - but I don't see why they cannot be intermingled on DIFFERENT pages (IE, one page on site with YPN, another page on site with AS).
By checking Google contract I agree with this opinion, but checking Yahoo contract - as I can understand - it is not clear, they spoke about "exclusivity". Are you sure that we could use both systems (in different pages)?
High performing targeted pages > Google $0.10 per click @ 500
Lower performing loosely targeted or catagory targeted > Yahoo $.50 per click @ 100
The lesser clicked ads on slowerpages generate more money per click. So the same 100 clicks are worth more on Yahoo. Plus I have two income streams and if there is a problem I can instantly flip to the other and not loose any money, security.
Here from the AdsenseAdvisor herself is the skinny.

Yahoo is significantly higher in total revenue than Adsense. Even though less clicks are made the total revenue is like night and day. I'm talking 300% increase per day as of today!
I don't really care that the # of clicks is less, I care about the income. If less people are leaving my site for more $ this is a good thing. If our small # of affiliate programs is any indication of what advertisers are making from a click...they are also probably very happy!
Like anything you ride the horse until he is tired. Hopefully this one doesn't tire soon! I love this horse!
This third time, it's looking to be all Yahoo.
Looking at my adsense history, I see the problem as being the ever reducing minimums for "site targeting" within Adsense. Adsense does not give you the option to set a minimum price for your site's inventory... just what the market will pay, starting at about $0.25 a CPM to Adsense.
I for one don't want those in my industry given the ability to purchase "secured space" on my site for less than $1.50 CPM... otherwise, they can bid per click and maybe they're on my site, maybe they're not!
Hopefully YPN will learn from Google's failure here and when they introduce site specific targeting to compete with Google, they give Webmasters the ability to set a minimum. Guaranteeing an advertiser space on a specific well targeted site should be able to have a premium priced in.
One thing keeping me away from YPN on a lot of pages is the fact that with Adsense I can put up one advertising box and one set of adlinks (that's the look I like). YPN doesn't offer anything like adlinks.
