I know it is BETA and I did sign up but, I would rather keep it on a small site waiting for the big click then put the bulk of the traffic there and hope for a decent CTR.
Can you tell me how many of you can find a category from YPN that your site fits in? No. there is simple no such cateogory for my site.
Forget about YPN.
I think they will get it right someday soon and if the EMC stays the same and targeting is as good as Google, everything will move over.
Of course the last few days my Google EPC has skyrocketed too!
Hi guys wake up, it is not a targeting issue, it is simply that yahoo doesnot have enough inventory to fill the space so it just pull up whatever it has.
Well, when I type my keyword ( at least what I and google deems to be my keyword) into yahoo I get 20 or so advertisers. Yet I get Vonage and Comcast ads on my page.
Why is targeting important if earnings are high
Because targeting brings more relevant ads which encourages visitors to pay attention to them more (and can even add value to a site).
More relevant ads = higher clickthrough. So if the clickthrough is higher and the EPC is higher, the overall earnings will be that much more.
I am a heavy advertiser for yahoo and trust me, there is inventory. The site I had up in particular was about college and education. There was several section about scholarships and such. Almost every general term has at least 40 advertisers.
I get the feeling that not all the advertisers are included in the YPN Beta, which is why you might see more adverts on Yahoo that never appear on your site.
The targeting is also an issue, and even though the ads sometimes pay more (almost always), I have seen the CPC head steadily downward. Yesterday was the last straw for YPN. Only 2 clicks and 22 cents is not going to cut it. For the same pages with AS I would have earned quite a bit more.
My experiment, and my patience, with YPN is at an end. Google wins this round. Maybe they'll get their act together at some future date, though if one can judge by past efforts - Yahoo Auctions, to be specific - that's dubious.
