Yahoo Inc has displaced Google as preferred provider of Web services to mobile operator T-Mobile in northern and central Europe, Yahoo and T-Mobile said on Tuesday.

The deal, announced by the two companies at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, demonstrates Yahoo's momentum in mobile services worldwide in spite of the uncertainties raised by Microsoft's takeover bid.

I cannot wait until people have their own say in which browser or search engine they want on their phone. Interesting to see what the google phone platform will bring.

Am I the only one that thinks that Google probably just gave this to Yahoo so they could announce new business?

The number of people browsing the web on T-Mobile phones must be tiny (in the UK at least).

I'm not sure - T-Mobile have the best internet deals for phones in the UK and advertise their Web'n'Walk service fairly heavily.
