XML Question

What to do if XML exceeds over 10 kb

Dear Frnds.!

I m having b2c portal with lots of pages in it.

I have generated xml through online tool & the size of that xml is 45 kb.

SO technique says it should not be more than 10 kb. Is that right thing?

And if yes than how can i split my sitemap.xml in parts.

Please help me out frnds..

What is SO technique? We process XML files of several megabytes without any problems, server-side.

I am not sure what you meant by 'SO technique.' I guess what you meant was "search engine optimization" technique.

Is your sitemap.xml for Google? Google sitemap allows a maximum of 50,000 URLs i.e. about 10MB in size. So, assuming that I was right about what you meant by 'SO', I think you have heard the wrong thing. It is 10MB not 10Kb.

One of my sites has more than 2,000 URLs and the size of the sitemap is about 720Kb.
