Opensearch the way to add search engines?

Making it easy for vistors to add a search engine to thieir browser

I have not even looked at this for years, but how should I go about making it easy for visitors to add a niche search engine to their browser?

I tried an opensearch demo page, which works on Firefox, but not Chrome. Is there a way of making this work cross-browser?

The answer is that it is the way to go, but IE has deprecated the JS method for adding an open search engine.
