The Link between RSS reader and Feed on a Site

Is it really needed to copy the url of the feed?

I just finished adding a RSS feed on my site. I download a rss reader and thought that with a click on the rss feed link on my site, the rss reader would pick it up right away.

To my surprise it does not work this way. It seems that you have to copy the link of the domain or even the specific feed url and paste it in the new feed field of the rss reader.

Am I missing something? I can't imagine that people will embrase this "complicated" way in this day and age to build a collection of feeds.
I would like to see a reader that pick up the feed whe I click on it, or the option to right click and command "add this rss feed".

Does this exist? If so why isn't every reader equiped with this feature?
