A noticed popped up on my screen this morning from MS that Windows support is ending January 14, 2020.

"After 10 years, support for Windows 7 is nearing the end.
January 14, 2020 is the last day Microsoft will offer security updates and technical support for computers running Windows 7. We know change can be difficult, that's why we're reaching out early to help you back up your files and prepare for what's next."

Aside from the "if it ain't broke..." philosophy, I really hate having to start all over again learning a new OS when I have become very comfortable with what I have. For what I do, it works great. But alas, we are all at the mercy of the manufacturer and have little choice.

Thank you Windows 7 for a good run.

I'm a bit stressed about this. I have two machines that refused to upgrade to Win10. They are still very viable full-time Win 7 machines .

That - and well - Win 10 is a pain to use in so many ways. I spend most of the interaction with Win 10, getting it to perform like Win 7 and spent most of the time with Win 7 getting it to ack like Win xp. (hmmm, I'm sensing a theme here...) lol

I will probably get a WIN10 machine, but I have several running WIN 7 and work great. Prudence will keep them safe after MS stops support. Still, I feel it is similar to a scam as it forces you to buy something you neither want or need.

I was going to make a comment about completely switching to Linux so as to not deal with this crap any more, except that I'll be spending the next few weeks upgrading all my Ubuntu servers...

Chuckles. Will still run. I suspect a cottage industry of support (for three-five years) will spring up.

Was still running Win 3.1 until my 386 finally died. Last year. :)
