Hello everyone, this is my first post here, and I apologize if this isn't the correct board for this question, it just seemed like the closest match to my question.

I'm currently using Struts 1 as a framework for a website I'm working on. I have a page that I'm working on that has details about a customer. The user can manage the information, and switch between tabs to manage other information. I'm currently working to add a "quick search" feature to the top of these pages, which would let the user quickly switch between which customer they are viewing, while remaining on the same page. I'm trying to do this by letting the user enter their search parameters, then they click "search", and a new window should pop up with the results. When they click the one they want, it uses a javascript function to the details of the parent window.

My problem is that I can't get this pop up window to work correctly. The search is done by using various struts tags like html:text, and even a few custom ones, each one using a property attribute to set the correct form parameter. A changeAction is then done. If I let the results be displayed in the same window, everything works perfectly.

However, if I add a target="new_window" to my Search link, for example, a new window is opened but nothing is ever displayed in it. I can't add the target="_blank" to the form tags, because there are a couple of other buttons on the same form that should -not- open a new window.

I'm just wondering how can have the results of a changeAction be displayed in a new window, without the parent window changing?

Thank you,
