Attempting to find something.

I've been searching for a program/service/API recently that will let me do GUI manipulation/screen scraping for desktop applications. I've found a product that works, but it's missing a feature we need in order for it to fulfill my boss's requirements.

The missing feature is a web service wrapper--that is, we want to be able (presumably through SOAP) to perform functions such as reading the text of a textbox in a particular application, or clicking the "ok" button in a dialog box.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products like this?

P.S. I know it's not horribly hard to write a web service, especially in C# and other .NET languages, but it would still be nice if we could find a product that would allow us to get by without writing one.
