Hello Dear Webmasters and Moderators,

I have converted my site from asp to asp.net three weeks ago. I have done redirects, changing codes, etc after conversion is done. A strange situation is being held when I got my site not indexed after passing three weeks. Please answer me of following questions?

1- Is .net Google Friendly? (shall spidders take visit freely)
2- www.foo-widget.com is not cached but www.foo-widget.com/index.aspx is in google cache. Why this is happened?
3- Most of the pages are resitricted by the robots.txt, even it works fine.
4- Many old urls are blocked or and having 404 errors. (the urls with redirects).
5- I have tried every method of recovering www.foo-widget.com but all in vain and found zilch.
6. Metas are not properly appearing within the body area of the website, shall this has impact and cause not caching.

Besides, Y! and Msn crawled the pages frequently and having www.foo-wideget.com in their cache already. What is the reason behind, if Y! and Msn works fine with the code then why not Google?

Thanks,

Bilal

Hi Bilal,

It looks like a few others have had a similar problem, e.g. Index page listed but not cached [webmasterworld.com]

Thanks, but that is not enough for me... My questions are entirely different. I'll be looking for some more comments, please.

Thanks,

Bilal

I am going to assume index.aspx is your default page. IIS will send a 301 or 302 (I forget which) when "www.foo-widget.com/" is requested, telling GoogleBot to goto "www.foo-widget.com/index.aspx" instead. That is why it is showing up now. Google sometimes figures this out on a case by case bases, but in my experience its is a craps shoot when it does this if ever.

yes it is a crap shoot no doubt it is a crap one. Hey by the way google has took a lot of pages including index page. There were some issues in respect of java script. Spidders thinks that it might be melicious.

Thanks,
