Major tech companies are calling for a list of critical open source projects, especially highlighted in the wake of Log4j vulnerability. At a meeting in the White House, Google and IBM were leading the call, which was also attended by Apache, Google, Apple, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Meta, Linux, and Oracle as well as government agencies like the Department of Defense and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

Google also proposed how to move forward, including a public private partnership.
Google proposed setting up an organization to serve as a marketplace for open source maintenance, matching volunteers from companies with the critical projects that most need support. He noted that Google was "ready to contribute resources" to the move.

“Facebook CEO [REDACTED] wanted to meet with COO [REDACTED] and his other executives before making a decision,” says the complaint, meaning Zuckerberg and Sandberg.

“We’re nearly ready to sign and need your approval to move forward,” Sandberg wrote Zuckerberg.

“Google CEO Sundar Pichai also personally signed off on the terms of the deal,” the lawsuit said, according to the Post.

Trust is an issue. What's proposed goes against the spirit of open source does it not?
