You may remember Google's announcement that it was to remove trust for Symantec-issued certificates. [webmasterworld.com] Google has now explained the timeline so that webmasters can arrange for a certificate from any trusted authority recognised by Chrome 66. You've got until the beta is issued, and that's scheduled for March 15, 2018.

Starting with Chrome 66, Chrome will remove trust in Symantec-issued certificates issued prior to June 1, 2016. Chrome 66 is currently scheduled to be released to Chrome Beta users on March 15, 2018 and to Chrome Stable users around April 17, 2018. Ironic that those who market safety products (Symantec, Equfiax) have become the ones we can't trust for our safety.

My Chrome browser just this minute updated to: Version 61.0.3163.79 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Yes, 66 seems a while away, but I suspect people will need time to adjust.

I have a feeling we will skip a few numbers on our way to 66.
