Just some collected data...

... or some not very constructive things to do while waiting for the update

While some members are looking for constructive things to do - while waiting for the update [webmasterworld.com] I thought I might do the opposite and do some digging around WebmasterWorld.

Here´s a table I came up with. Sorted by posts per day I collected some data on who seemed to be among the most frequent posters.

The second column shows the total number of posts, the third column the number of posts per day, and the forth column is a prediction of the post count by the end of the year if members keep posting at their current pace.

Now don´t take this too seriously. WebmasterWorld is not a contest and I might very well have a wrong impression of who is really among the top posters since I do not frequent all forums in the diverse WebmasterWorld family. Take this for what it really is: WebmasterWorld seen from my POV in the more technical fora. Just enjoy ;)

Marketing_Guy used to be JOAT. And I believe that some of his post count is from that time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, this is really an example of a self-fulfilling prophecy by posting this ::giggle::

I actually had a nightmare last night about this place..somebody stickied me and pointed out that my posting rate was too high for a newbie and told me to go get some expertise before hitting the keyboard.

Tells you a few things about me..
I tend to immerse myself in work.
Work becomes play.
I play too much.

Since people who play too much tend to die broke, how am I going to pay for the shrink?

Dian :)

Maybe I ought to go into Marketing!

Now that you mention it it does seem like the perfect explanation for such an unnaturally high post count per day.

So congrats hakre on being the most prolific poster of WebmasterWorld ;)

talking from experience, what must have taken longest was lining up that table to look straight!

Andreas, I thought you had to finish some law exam? ;)

and then to think I thought I was a post-spammer...:)

The fact that others may be worse does not necessarily free you of such a title. :)

Maybe this is Andreas' way of NOT finishing exam? ;)

>>That must have taked you hours.

Not really, just about an hour before heading to bed. I did not search through all fora. Just a couple of threads and a quick and dirty Perl [perl.com] script.

BTW

18. Shak______________ ¦ __929 ¦ _3.72 ¦ _2051

is wrong as well as
_1. Marketing_Guy_____ ¦ __759 ¦ 15.81 ¦ _5532
.

Anybody else change their nick recently?

>>Andreas, I thought you had to finish some law exam? ;)

I did just yesterday :) Well the written part that is but the oral examination will not be until sometime this summer :o

indeed ;)

>unnaturally high

I would have been higher up the list a while back...andreas, how about unique words used...that one would sure be worthwhile.

That´s all it really took:

my $l = sprintf [perldoc.com] "%2d.-%-18s-¦-%5d-¦-%5.2f-¦-%5d\n", ...
$l =~ y [perldoc.com]/ -/_ /;
print [perldoc.com] $l;

>>unique words

Now that would require me to go through all the fora. And I cannot and will not do that :).

i think you chose the wrong profession ;)

any list with the oldest members still hanging out?

I guess I have the sole distinction of having a relatively low post count combined with low quality posts. :)

I tried to fit some special lawmen property into that algo somewhere. But it just wouldn´t work. Sorry about that lawman ;-)

Although I disagree with the decision to post such information, I for one am very happy that these people do what they do. They are the ones that make this place go round. Looking at the names, they are also some of the most informed...

I am grateful that you guys/gals are around... thank you and keep up the good work.
