Site Search

How old must a post be before it becomes searchable

I remember reading a post about plastic posted by Brett recently. I couldn't remember where, so I went and searched but it did not show up in the db.

There were only nineteen posts, but not what I was looking for.

Fortunately I thought it had to be in foo since it was just basement type conversation. There it was. I wanted the link that was posted and was happy to have found it.

I was just curious as to how long before posted topics can be searched from the db here on WW.

If you go to Google you can also search for:
site:webmasterworld.com "search string"

Thanks.

Well, the site search database is just plain HUGE these days that it is impossible for us to index the entire thing. The only current off-the-shelf search that would work here would be a Google search appliance at over $20k.

So, this local category is excluded.

I use my Google toolbar. Instead of Search Web button, I click the Search Site button. Easy as pie.
