The last few days, but not every day or every page load, I get told by IE that an ActiveX control wants to run. I always tell it no. But it does leave me wondering what's up?

Gary, it wouldn't be from WebmasterWorld. I've never had that happen, never heard of it happening to anyone else, or ever heard ActiveX mentioned regarding the site, by Brett or anyone else.

Check what else you have open at the time. It sounds like you inadvertantly picked something up on your computer someplace.

I did somehow a few days ago, after I had a hard time getting a popup window at some site out there to close. I'll have to run one of those programs that checks for hidden, invasive software, I'm getting a popup whenever I open my email program for the first time.

There's no ActiveX, nothing that could trigger that.

The fact it was ActiveX did catch me by surpirse since I didn't think Brett liked the dark side. :)

But this happened when I clicked on a link in the active list and once in a subscriber's area. No other browser was open at the time, just IE 6.

Next time it happens I'll try to gather a bit more information that might prove helpful.

Thanks, Marcia.

Hmmm... probably not related, but did you have your email program open at the time? I'm asking because I wondered what was happening with what I'm experiencing, and traced it to when Outlook opens. That happens no matter where I am.

How about additional windows open in IE6?

Also, if it happened on two occasions, did you arrive from the same place, was the web site before you got here the same?

MailWasher was open once. But not the second time.

Only one instance of IE6 was running; not using Crazy Browser or any IE shell that permits multiple windows.

Did I arrive from the same place both time? I can't recall.

As I stated before I will try to pay more attention next time. The first time caught me off guard. Same with the second. But I'm ready for it now. :)

Brett was testing for the presence of the Teoma, Google, Yahoo, and Alexa toolbars for internal reasons.

Hmmmm, same has happened to me on at least one occasion, just for a very short while.

I feel much better knowing I'm not going crazy. Well, at least not due to this. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
