I run Crazy Sytes, and had difficulty accessing webmaster world today (Directly that is, not through Crazy Sytes).

Am I right in thinking that the ip address of Crazy Sytes (and therefore the ip address I web browse from) has now been blocked from accessing webmaster world?

If so, may I ask why? Was it putting a lot of extra load on the webmasterworld server?

If it is causing problems, I can easily block webmaster world from being 'crazified' at my end, and therefore hopefully get my ip block lifted.

Ck the robots.txt. We do not allow unauthorized automated querying. Right now, the only authorized bots are the big 5 se's and the big 2 directories.

I understand that. I'm just a little surprised that this was put in the same category as a rampant bot.

Anyway, I've blocked webmasterworld.com from Crazy Sytes now, so is there any chance of my ip block being lifted?

Every month I run into 2-3 open proxy caches. Those caches often contain various copies of the board. They get into Google and clog up the results. We lose management of the content and expose the system to risk of more spiders. So, personal policy that when we see automated stuff, we put it on the block list. Better safe than sorry.

As I mentioned in my last post, webmasterworld.com is now blocked from Crazy Sytes.

They get into Google and clog up the results.

A robots.txt file is now in place to stop that.

So, personal policy that when we see automated stuff, we put it on the block list.

I understant the reason why my ip is on the block list, but since the board is now blocked from Crazy Sytes, and there's no chance of Google indexing it, can you please lift the ban on my ip?
