Should Display 50 when clicked on next?

When I use the site search function and select 50 for displaying the output, it shows

"Displaying documents 1-50 of 584, with best matches first:"

This is fine but when I use the link for next page, it starts showing

"Displaying documents 51-70 of 584, with best matches first:"

and the number of result pages increases manifold considering the default 20 results per page.

instead it should be
"Displaying documents 51-100 of 584, with best matches first:"

Is it just me or anyone else also see this? What do I need to do so that it shows 50 only as per my selected choice?
