WebmasterWorld 2002 Year End Roundup

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for your support, let you know
what has been happening at the site, and roundup a few outstanding issues.What a Year!
It has been a breath taking year at WebmasterWorld. I've dealt with many
sites, but never anything like what we experienced at WebmasterWorld this
year. Daily visitors, page views, and sign ups have increased three fold
since the beginning of the year.
[webmasterworld.com...]Just a couple weeks ago, WebmasterWorld moved into the Alexa Top 1000
sites list on the net. Alexa rankings are visible from the Alexa toolbar
(currently parked at 921). That places us in the rarified air of the
highest ranked forum of our nature on the entire net.

Thank you very much to those who have supported WebmasterWorld with
donations. All funds are going into a specific pool for WebmasterWorld
expenses.It is by the generosity of members that we are able to keep
WebmasterWorld free and editorially independent.Per member requests, we have created a private forum for donators. It has
been very successful in it's first month of operation. If you have

New Software:

Our exponential growth in 2002 would not have been possible with the old
existing software. We spent every spare minute of 2001 and early 2002
working on a ground up rewrite. We put the new software (BestBBS) online
in early June. It has been well received by members.
[webmasterworld.com...]The intent of BestBBS was to put control of the user interface in members
hands. Fonts, colors, styles, and many format controls go a long way to
giving tools to members that help them use the site effectively and in a
personal manner.One of the most requested features was a system that pointed out the best
threads in the forum. We have created a library system that tracks the
best threads in each forum.

Point of clarification: member accounts are weeded for inactivity every
120 days at webmasterworld. If you haven't left a message in that time,
the account is considered abandoned and removed. This keep the membership
database clean and up-to-date. We want active members - not padded

now. Double check that there are no filters or proxy agents running

software has been tested with all known major browsers, versions, and
