My Alexa toolbar says WebmasterWorld is now #991

Congratulations. :)

Hmmm, with the relatively small number (I assume) of Alexa toolbar users, it would seem like a relatively small number of users could impact the ratings - particularly for lower volume sites. Sort of like the disproportionate effect of a few "Nielsen" TVs tuning into a cable TV show. Is there any significant benefit from an improved Alexa rating, i.e., should a site provide a toolbar download link or do anything else to encourage Alexa-enabled browsing?

Actual traffic from alexa is next to zero but..

I run a lot of joint promotions with other sites, were we provide hundreds of pounds of prizes, links, newsletter mentions etc. The way I decide which sites to use are throught the alexa toolbar rankings.

970! I wonder if I should sticky brett ;)

If you read how the traffic figure is generated, it is based on a maximum of 8 page views per user and weighted with Uniques.

Looks like we're still climbing [alexa.com]

Today: 628
1 week avg 775
3 month avg 958

Top 500 on the bar might not be too far down the road.

It's already higher than:

WiseNut
Teoma
Search Engine Watch
Clickz
WilsonWeb

Posting here might get ya more visibility than writing articles on some of the more "mainstream"? marketing and SEO related sites. More people may read it anyway.

The 970 is still in the toolbar. If you click on the toolbar number (970), then scroll down and click on " See Traffic Rank History" it shows more trends and sort term ranks. All seem to be going in a positive direction.

Hmmmm, we must have some "cloaking-and-dagger" fans here. All of the books Alexa says are bought by visitors to WebmasterWorld are Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy, etc. novels. Nary an XML manual or O'Reilly book in sight... :)

There's some pretty cooky books that go with some sites in there.
