To me it seems that they are unneccessary. The person who got the sticky mail will see it at the top of the screen or she will be notified by email when email notification is enabled. To any other reader those posts are not very useful.
IMO people should refrain from posting such messages.

Rogerd makes a good point. Sometimes the member "has an answer" but knows that posting it will involve an url drop or subject matter that the board doesn't want posted publicly.
If a member sends link or code snippet via sticky to someone, a post to that effect alerts other members that the info is available
If the info is of general interest then one should consider posting it instead if using sticky mail. Iīm aware that with certain links that might not be possible but there were threads were there was a nice discussion on some programming problem and the final solution was only available by sticky mail.
People were afraid to break Brettīs "no code posting" rule. However, this rule was never intended to prevent those kinds of posts after a fruitful discussion.

The best advice anyone ever gave me about dealing with minor annoyances was, "Ignore it." (OK, that was actually advice on how to deal with kids at school making fun of me, but it works for garbage posts too... hehehe)
In defense of such posts, other members may be interested in the same info. If a member sends link or code snippet via sticky to someone, a post to that effect alerts other members that the info is available.
Any chance of a thread "sticky function" so that all participants in a thread discussion can be send the same stickymail "once".
Or does this open the doors of "abuse"... again.
