Use of cookie reset vrs use of "reset last read pointers"

What do these do that's different?

Brett - When I was having trouble way back with a sluggish response on the board, you suggested that I reset my cookies. It worked, and I've used this as a preventative tactic ever since. Resetting the cookies also reset all the last read pointers.

You now have a reset link... so I'm wondering whether this link will also help purge my sluggish cookies, or whether the cookies page is still the place to go. What does each do that's different?

If you are logged in, your last read pointers are stored in your member file on the system.

If you are _not_ logged in, it still uses the cookies like the old system.

That way, people can keep two computers (presummably, home and work) synced up.

You really shouldn't have to do anything now Robert. Once you login, there are only two cookies (name/pw) that the board sets.
