Question Answered Function

I used to use the ColdFusion forums all the time, and whenever someone or several people answered a question, the original poster could mark that question as ANSWERED with a summary of the information he got. That way, it closes a topic so it doesn't drag on forever (people who want to discuss more can start a new topic) and it also let's people who are looking over the forums and find a post that interests them to get an answer quickly. Less than 10% of the posts have a definite answer, but it couldn't hurt.

Sorry we missed this post, Felipe! The answers to the CF questions are probably pretty well definitive, but a lot of ours aren't, some having different opinions on the same subject. As a rule we have more discussion type threads than those that could have a direct answer. Example: use commas or not in meta tags, hyphens in domain names or not - those will never end because there's no one straight answer, there are different opinions and everyone's comments are valid. With something like the scripting forum it's different, if something's solved it's done with.

I suppose we could lock down threads, but that would take making decisions and have to be done manually. I think most of ours get pretty well answered, but then someone can come along with something new.

Thanks for the suggestion, it's something to think about with the older threads. People could do a new post and reference the older ones.
