Fix icons only menu, add text labels to make it a MENU!

Make the menus menus again, not randon icons!

Icons-only menus are not cool, they are pointlessly inefficient.

I'm not here to play patty-cake with the menus and patiently move my mouse around to "discover" menu items.

To further compound how absolutely and ineffably terrible icons-only menus are (sans the utterly justified 500 instances of curses I am using 100% effort to not include in this post) this is a developer website! Yes, there are people who are so utterly lost that they would use a screen with ~400 pixels (if even that) and go on a coding website.

Please fix the menus so I can literally look at the website with respect. I don't have the time to replace all of society, people need to start being responsible.

While I personally agree that text based menuing is more user-friendly, I have to also accept that user devices are by and large phones these days with limited screen real estate. Couple that with my need for HIGH CONTRAST (vision impaired) it took a few days to "discover" what all the little icons mean. Having done that, it's all good on my side.

YMMV

As for notifications? Marked it all read sometime back and it took ... as read, but do continue to show up if one wastes time scrolling down instead of just reading the new entries.

You've been around for a while, I'm sure you remember it's always been a bit of "programmer does design" type of site ;-)

I agree with all your critique, of course, but in fairness I imagine the site is barely profitable these days (anything even happening in Supporters?), and where there used to be multiple developers working on it I think it's just Brett now.
