What a bad experience

I visit several forums. Although WMW is the best. The last one I visited let some know-it-all have his way degrading and demoralizing members. The moderators laughed and said they think it is funny when he gets mad. Very professional.

Ya, those big net magazine site forums (for lack of naming names) always have 1-2 that they let run wild and walk on users. I was in one a week ago and got the same treatment.
That said, it's not always easy when there will always be 1-2 equally knucklehead users out to raise a ruckus (they think of it as sport).

I have to jump in here and say that I visit a number of forums both business oriented and hobby related. This is by far the most pleasant, informative and professionally run arena. While there is a lot of work done by the mods and Brett and think it also says a lot about the people that use this forum. It's easier to moderate something if 9 tenths of the participants act as adults.

That is why I've stuck with WebMasterWorld.com. You guys and gals are amazing. I always get the help I need and now I'm at a point where I can help back. I appreciate this site for not putting anyone down when all someone is trying to do is learn.

That's the main reason this place exists, for all of us to learn from each other and make a few buds while in the process.

Amen! But it's not just moderating requirements, most of us are trying to run businesses using what we collectively share here. There isn't enough time now to read all the good stuff. (Anyone noticed we're averaging around 120 threads a day now? Hit 150 once last week. Whew!)

Maybe I will make a forum and compete with brett! hehehe but all the other sites, ive checked them out they are very cocky about things and don't give people a chance.

what my business has gained from me hanging out here is almost beyond price!!!

the thing here is that there is a genuine sense of community and givingness (is that a word),

i've noticed in the last year a load of people turning up for info just like most forums, but due to the general pleasant ambiance, quite a few stick around and give something back.

- where else but here would an idea like pub conference crystalise?
i was astonished that not only was it a freebee but sponsorship had been arranged for the bar ... i almost took up drinking just to make the most of it.

:) The WebmasterWorld active list has been my home page for a long time. I'm hooked, and loading the "recent posts" every 1/2 hour or so is the only way to keep track of what goes on around here.

< New user here, been a webmaster for about a year

The site is now bookmarked, I receive notification of replies and I must hit the place as much as Google in a nights work

I learn something every night, in fact, the learning curve im on, I learn alot!!

Anyone here a "side bar" fan? I'm thinking of working up a active list designed for a sidebar. Netscape 6/Moz and Opera are quite easy. IE would require you to edit a registry setting.
