I've gone through the new Free Tools a couple of times, saw the HTTP Header Check and noticed it only returns the status code for the requested location, but what I really needed was the full server headers for the URL I was requesting to make sure the special headers I set were present.

Then I noticed the old Server Header Check that provides the full headers is still available in the control panel. I was thinking the control panel version might be a cool addition to the tools already present for those who need more details than only the status code of the headers returned for a URL.

this tool is misnamed.
it should be called the HTTP Response Status Code Check tool, which is what the description calls for.

a new tool similar to or a repurposing of the old Server Header Check would also be helpful.

the header check tool has been renamed "HTTP Response Status Code Check Tool" and there is now a new tool in the "Webmaster Tools" section named "Check HTTP Header".

the "Check HTTP Header" tool has been more specifically renamed the "Check HTTP Response Headers" tool.
