Forum Moderators: open
Earlier this week, WebmasterWorld moderators received an unsolicited and until now, unknow endorsement of the highest order. They were cited for their ethics in an article by well known columnist Richard Lowe:

After reading this board for the past few months, and especially after meeting several of you at the BarCon, I couldn't agree more with the praise. A fine, fine group of people running this place. Keep up the good work.
If I were Googleguy I would invite the moderators of this forum to Googleplex for a propper wining and dining and open discussions (and not with the adwords people). Not that anyone should or would expect inside insights into the Google kitchen.
I am sure Google learns a lot from this forum, but more importantly I think that Google could learn more on what works too well within the Google algorithm from e.g. these moderators. I doubt that some highly talented programers see through that in a couple of months of programming and testing.
This type of info comes out best in real conversation and discussions and it would give due credit to the professional webmaster SEO world and Google for such an open dialogue.
By the way - I will not refuse an invitation for proposing this idea :)

Moderators deserve such a reward from any search engine (isnt Fast in Norway?)
On many, arguments, disgusting language, heavy handed moderation and pure wanton destruction created by a few small minded individuals who would not accept another's right to hold an opposing viewpoint ... were and are prevalent. It has become so bad that I rarely take part in any of them anymore.
I don't think WMW gets anywhere near the recognition it should. The quality of people who take part in this fora is truly top notch. There are naturally a few snide remarks between factions from time to time, but the moderators always seem to be able to keep things under control with very little heavy handedness.
If all webmasters were to take part in this fora and choose to learn from one another ... the web would be a much better place and the quality of sites and information presented would improve drastically.
I tell everyone I know about WMW ... and that includes several travel board owners who could learn a thing or two by your example.

Another point to keep in mind is how much Richard's article reflects on the members of this community. We're closing in on 120,000 posts, and we have a Mod crew of around 30. In any given month, you can usually count the number of times a Mod has to actually step in an and take action on one hand.
Those kind of numbers aren't possible without having extremely high quality members.
As a mod I am definitely proud to be a part of this fine group but even more I am very proud to be part of such an awesome community!

Congratulations!!! Webmasterwold is almost always in an open browser window while I'm online and that was true even before I became a member. Sometimes I even feel honored that some of the 'quality members' even take the time to respond to what I have to say or a question I need answered.

That's one of the things that blew me away in person at BarConference... What an outstanding group of intelligent, charming people (even after being in a bar together for 8 hours)! As someone who's worked in bars before, I'd have to say that was the most outstanding crowd I've ever seen gathered in such an establishment.
It's a team effort between the moderators and members to make this place what it is, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it!
