I wanted to PM a moderator to make sure a link I posted was fine (pretty sure it was) though profiles don't have PM links unless I'm totally missing them.

JAB - Thanks for the thought about checking w/mods first before posting links. It would make life a lot easier.

Be advised, though, that if you want a quick response, in forums where there are multiple mods, be sure to copy all of them in your message. There's a reason why those forums have multiple mods, having to do with anything from time zones to forum load to moderator availability.

Linking to some stories also can involve a bunch of discussion among moderators and administrators. Questions about whether a story has been confirmed, whether it's hard news or rumor, whether the source is sufficiently authoritative, etc etc, can enter into it.
