IMO one of the weirdest things about Webmaster World (besides not indicating "visited" links) is when it comes to your rank ("New User," "Senior Member," ect.) it apparently goes by the number of posts a user makes instead of how long they've been registered, e.g., I've been registered since 2006 but with a modest 33 posts I'm still a "New User."
It would seem to me this encourages a lot of "me too!" posts and not posts that add significant contributions to a thread.

You'll get a general sense of who does that and who doesn't the more you stick around and read posts.
While the posts count does not matter, it is sometimes a helpful metric to have available. What more important is what is to the right of the post count, namely, the post content. :)
