PubCon Newbie

Hello everyone..just a quick question..should i as a newbie go to the London PubCon or would i be better waiting until next year when i will be well versed in topics that will be discussed..Is this purely a networking event which wouldn't be appropriate...i would be going on my own and just don't want to end up feeling out of my depth..There doesn't seem to be much info on the London event..thanks for any advice

However, many experienced people will be there and it's a great opportunity to learn from them. Don't feel out of your depth. The main thing is to start speaking to other attendees.

I think what you are looking for is "Webmasters Anonymous". I have heard rumours there is a secret sub forum in the supporters forum, where webmaster addicts meat once a week.

You can use the CAGE questionnaire to decide if you should join:

Have you ever felt you needed to Cut down on your webmastering time?
Have people Annoyed you by criticizing the time you spend checking your stats or adsense income.
Have you ever felt Guilty about checking your stats 10 times an hour.?
Have you ever felt you needed to look at your stats first thing in the morning (Eye-opener) to steady your nerves for the day?

Mybe it could be a good (or not?) idea: a newbie corner.

Some of us will be there watching how some dudes find some old friends while we look the scene from the bar with a glass in one hand and say "Who's this bunch of people?".

It's so simple as a printed flag or any kind of icon saying "Newbies here".

Veterans should too explain:
- there's no really any kind of introduction for/from nobody?
- people goes with notebooks or netbooks?
- are there free computers if someone want to show anything to a colleague?
- there is wi-fi?
- will we have any kind of welcome bag with advertising/t-shirts and so on?
- what's the exact rate alcohol/people available/allowed?
