WebmasterWorld - a tiny bit misleading?

For the longest time, I've always thought I need to donate and become a donating member to read threads. The system blocked me out for around 24 hours after viewing just one or two threads, brought me to the login page where I was asked to become a premium member.

All I needed to do was create a free account to have access to viewing topics? Wow.. I just wasted $149 then.. thoughts anyone? Can anyone explain to me exactly how the system works?

The 149 seems to be more of a donation than anything, but you are able to access more forum areas and have access to webmaster tool sets.

I regret to say I smooze unabashedly upon this fountain of knowledge. I did, however, read the sign-up for the "freebie" knowledge. One of these days, when I have gained enough knowledge, I will fork over the funds to enter the inner circle where the secrets of the gods are revealed.

Humbly grateful for the bits and crumbs (how many thousands of topics, much less threads?) but there will come a day when I have grown enough in wisdom that I, too, shall PAY.

Both tongue-in-cheek and a promise.

If you can't pay the $149, you haven't read enough.

There are single sentences in the supporters forum that will make you thousands of dollars. If you pay close enough attention and do not expect people to s-p-e-l-l everything out for you, I am betting you will gain some important insight. Check back in a year and let us know about your ROI

The only reason I pay is I fear folks are talking about me behind my back. That and I didn't realize I signed a contract to auto-bill for 7 year periods :)
