For some reason when replying to posts this morning my replies are doubling. I thought that the first one was something that I had done, but it has happened more than once so I don't think that it is coming from my end.

Is it a little sluggish when you are posting your replies? Do you hit the submit button more than once? It happens sometimes when the submit form hangs, but is usually due to us humans being impatient ;)

No, I only hit once. The only sluggishness that I experienced today was once when I hit preview before submitting.

It posts the reply right away with no delay.

lol, no impatience on my end, I tend to be a very patient person most of the time. One time hit to submit and two posts are there.

I get upset with the kids when they click click click and can't wait for the computer to process things. lol. (thankfully they have their own pc to share upstairs and my pc is hands off ;) )

You're welcome :) Some questions though, as double-posting can happen intermittently, but doesn't usually happen every time: what browser are you using? Are you using the Quick reply or the main reply function? Does it still happen if you change browsers? Are you using that AVG link-scanner thing and does it help if you disable it? (it's unlikely to be that, but you never know)

Feel free to spam this thread to test things ;)

Ok, I'm using firefox. And yes am using the quick reply. I usually always use the quick reply.

Ahh, how do I disable the AVG link scanner? Just a quick question on that program, is that a default install on the AVG free 8.0?

I just installed the AVG 8.0 yesterday. So, good thought process on the avg.

Try posting something with Opera first, if you have it installed... :)

<added> OK, so only one post with IE - makes me think it's Firefox the problem. Are you running Firefox 3?

Interesting, One more test post with IE6, for some reason it seems that this is a firefox issue?

And if the link thing from AVG is considered a problem, it is also installed on IE6 as well. Just an additional note for you.

Could be the new AVG causing problems with Firefox, or a wayward Firefox extension. Try with Firefox without AVG (don't know how to disable it, I run Linux so don't have it!). Anything else installed in the last few days which interacts with FF?

testing with link scanner off

How do I know what version of firefox I have? I checked through the tool bar, however I don't see anything in regards to the version that I have.

Under Help, About Mozilla Firefox.

So it's not AVG (it was a long-shot anyway). :)

What extensions do you have? Stuff like Firebug?

Can you try running Firefox in Safe Mode - go to the Windows start menu, Run... and tyle:

firefox -safe-mode

Choose to disable Add-ons (leave the other options unchecked), then try posting again...

You should make a backup of your Firefox profile first if you want to be certain. :)

apparently it is somehow a firefox issue.

Extensions? Let me check and get back to you. I'll post them on a different browser then firefox.

I'll try the run in safe mode, I'm not worried about anything except my bookmarks, which I'll export right now.:)

Any recent add-ons added in the past day or so?

You should upgrade ;)

Which narrows it down to a problem with a Firefox extension.

Here's what I would do: close Firefox, find the Mozilla profile directory for your machine:

C:\Documents and Settings\ (your login) \Application Data\Mozilla

Rename it to "Mozilla-backup".

Then, uninstall Firefox 2 via the Windows Add/Remove programs. Use another browser to download Firefox 3 (released yesterday!), run the new browser, import your bookmarks from the old profile and start afresh with the new browser install and a new profile.

Ok, enclclo,
Thanks for the information. I'll report back in a little bit on how it went.

Just a quick question, I already exported the bookmarks, they are saved on my desktop in an html file. (My nephew usually does all my backups when needed, so I really need to learn how to do these things) If i do the uninstall without going and creating the mozilla-backup, would this work with the import feature on bookmarks?

I did see an update come through yesterday, but was busy and clicked out of it. I'm surprised that it didn't come back on today when I loaded up firefox. Usually updates don't go away they keep showing up.

eelixduppy.
Thanks for your help as well, and to answer your question, no updates were added.

Hmmm, this is interesting, I just noticed that IE is loading faster? I wonder if something in firefox was slowing down my system?
