Right now you can check the box to get notified by email of new responses to a thread when you do a post:
Email notification of new replies?
It would be nice to be able to request the email notifications without having to do a "me too" post just to get them.

I think the point is to encourage contribution as opposed to facilitating lurking
though maybe the option could be available to a certain member level

That makes a whole lot of sense, good point.

It's a good idea Marcia, I have been flagging them in the meantime, I check my flags first each day

Well, I actually just wrote my very_first PHP script (COBOL and IBM/Assembler batch processing I could handle, but dynamic for sites has been a challenge) and I'm smiling BIG because it actually *works*! But jatar_k, you do NOT want me posting in the PHP forum just to get notified of responses in threads. ;)
I've figured out that subscribing to the forum in the user control panel will do the trick, we can nuke what we don't need and follow up on what we do want.

On a similar sugject. It would very helpful to have a thread subscriptions management area a la vbulletin. I thought unsubscribing from the huge cuil thread would be a breeze but alas i had to find my post and then edit it just to unsubscribe. Forgive me if there's an easier way.
