Hi

I have been posting in PHP forum regularly and have found some problems specially if some user post a chunk of php code. the code embedding option is not that good and doesn't make the code to stand out from the rest of the text.

i also post on other forums like devshed and phpfreaks and i like their options to style the php code in colours like dreamweaver or other php editors do so that post text and code is easily distinguished.

So I will humbly suggest to add a better styling code feature in php forum.

thanks

thanks for the suggestion

we don't encourage large code dumps as that doesn't really help the user learn to dump the whole script in here and have others do their homework

on smaller chunks I don't feel it is required for readability

we've talked about it before but have never thought it necessary

I find it better if I'm going to look through a longer segment of code to copy and paste it into my own editor anyway. That way I have the syntax colored, when I click on a bracket it highlights its opening counterpart, etc...but as jatar said, large code dumps are looked down upon in the coding forums.

well, ten to fifteen lines code should be expected in php forum posts and if a user, i have seen many, posts more than one page's code then it is hard to distinguish between code and text. With colour scheme, I believe, it will be easy and elegant to handle the posts in all aspects.

Also besides readability code-styler will make the forum and posts look elegant.

Anyway, that is my opinion and if you think we don't need code-colour-scheme then I will keep posting in black-n-white :)
