IMHO, there should be a minimum requirement for being able to receive stickymail messages. And while it shouldn't be specifically mentioned what the requirement is, it should probably (IMHO) be made very clear to fly-by-night flakes and trolls who think they're fooling folks (HA!) that their self-promo and/or scammy/spammy posts will do nothing more than fall into a black hole.

Just a reminder that spamming stickymail is against the rules here and absolutely not tolerated - if you do get spammed, please let an admin know so that the offender can be taken care of ASAP.

>>Did you mean

Well whatever I meant at the moment, I have to apologize for that post. I've been in a snarly mood for a few days and should know better than to post or email (or even verbalize) anything that's whiney - or even when someone is being chronically irritating.

Besides, I actually don't agree. It happens quite often that someone brand new does a helpful or exceptionally insightful post (someone just this week did, with a total of 4 posts, and some of the best have been by junior members), and it isn't a bad idea to send a quick thank-you to the person.

I hope that's not referencing my post, because my post was a question, not a statement.

No, I'm disagreeing with me, in the first post. :)

I can think of a couple of scenarios where some posts could be (or could actually be deliberately designed to be) potential "stickymail magnets" but it's a very, very rare occurrence for that to happen.

Perhaps it could be set that New Members could not initiate Stickys, until requirements are met or as authorised by management, but could respond to stickies from other members.

That way it would stop spammers, but still enable them to reply to other members.

Or set stickymail allowance's to grow with account age
for instance, for a new account, first month 3 mail per week, second month 7 per week and so on
